If you stumble upon a scarecrow in the Plateau area in the next few weeks, you’re on the right track! It means you’re getting close to the brand-new Duluth Farmer’s Market, which will set up shop in the yard of École St. Jean Baptiste, 4265 Laval Ave., corner of Marie-Anne St. E.

Organizers will place scarecrows in the area to point people to the market, which will be open Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting on June 28.

Under a banner of “Wake Up. Eat Local”, the market aims to offer homegrown produce, cheese, maple syrup and meat. It could also be a fun stop for the kids, because performers will play live bluegrass and country music. The opening day (Sunday, June 28) will be especially child friendly, because Santropol CafĂ© is serving a pancake breakfast.

Why not tie in a stop at the market on the way to or from a neighborhood park? View map to see a couple of parks in the area.
