Don’t you love the children’s books of Eric Carle?

You know: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do You See, The Grouchy Ladybug, and, of course, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The stories and the illustrations never get old (FYI: There is actually an Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Massachusetts).

Montreal’s La Maison Théâtre will be presenting a French version of The Very Hungry Caterpillar – La Chenille qui fait des trous – and other Eric Carle stories, by Nova Scotia’s Mermaid Theatre. Using vividly-coloured puppets against a black background, they tell the story of the caterpillar’s transformation to a butterfly, as well as the story of Little Cloud and the Mixed-Up Chameleon. The show is aimed at age 3 to 7 and lasts about 45 minutes.

This production is not on until May, but tickets for Maison Théâtre productions go fast. There are still tickets for La Chenille qui fait des trous on the following dates: May 19, 29, June 1, 5 and 6. Read more about the show and order tickets. Below is a video preview of the show.
