Parc Safari’s new water park

July 14, 2011 Amusement parks

Parc Safari, about 35 minutes from Montreal, has added a new water park and water slides that are great for kids around age 8 and under. It’s full of water play jets, fountains and tipping buckets, kind of like Kent Park tripled.

But, going above and beyond a neighbourhood splash park, there are water slides to suit kids of almost any size. There are baby and toddler slides that have kids land on a soft mat, so there’s no splash in the face at the end. There are other very tame water slides that have kids land in a few inches of water.

Then, there are the big, primary-coloured coils that will suit beginner daredevils. The fresh facilities add to the park’s extensive, but aging, network of wading pools. Our kids were happy to explore both areas.

The park remains a great “first amusement park” experience for children age 5 and under, with its variety of activities: animals to see in a fairly compact area, a fairground with rides, and walk-through deer enclosure. We did not get to the park’s new Farm of 5 Continents, which sounds like a petting farm area, but with more exotic animals: llamas, alpacas and Vietnamese pigs, for example.

As we have done since our first visit to the park, we skipped the drive-through safari section of the park. There’s more than enough action for the kids without it!
