Saturday, July 31, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Craft show at Pointe du Moulin park, featuring theatrical and art activities for kids, plus craft vendors and bake sale. Cancelled in case of rain. Pointe du Moulin is at 2500 Don Quichotte Ave., Notre Dame de L’Ile Perrot. More information.

Saturday, July 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Hudson Street Fair, along Main Road, featuring vendors, musical performances, wagon rides, inflatables and other activities for children. More information.

Saturday, July 31, 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.: Adrenalia, a day of sports including Eurobungy, geocaching, a climbing wall, slackline and freestyle jumping. There will be a hip-hop dance show at 7:30 p.m. and a movie (La petite vengeance poilue/Furry Vengeance) at 8 p.m. at Aumais Park in Ste. Anne de Bellevue. More information.

Saturday, July 31 at 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Animal Care Apprentice workshop for age 3 to 6 at the Ecomuseum in Ste. Anne de Bellevue. Prepare meals for animals, learn more about them, invent toys for the animals to play with. In English. Also held on Sunday, Aug. 1 in French. More information.

Saturday, July 31, 2 to 10 p.m.: Quartier en Mouvement street festival welcomes families with face-painting, games and a recycled object mural-making session from 2 to 6 p.m. There will also be a jewelry-making workshop from 3 to 5 p.m. and a treasure hunt from 3 to 6 p.m. Other activities include street hockey, yoga and a culinary workshop. Saturday, July 31 at 10 p.m.: Magical morning at Parc des Prairies in Laval. There will be a magician, face-painting and balloons. More information.

Saturday, July 31 at 10 p.m.: International Fireworks Competition features a show by Sweden. More information.

Through Aug. 1, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.: Expo de St. Hyacinthe, an agricultural fair (started on July 22) featuring rides by Amusements Spectaculaires, a mini farm, mini train, face-painting and free pony rides. From July 28 to Aug. 1, there will be giant puppet shows. The event also hosts activities like rodeo, tractor pulling, textile arts demonstrations, a reptile exhibit and more. Cost: $15 per person. Saturday, July 31 and Aug. 1: Celtic Festival and Highland Games. On Saturday, from noon to 8 p.m., the Celtic Festival will feature music, highland dancing, food and drinks. On Sunday, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., the Highland Games hosts athletic competitions and a kids corner with inflatables, pony rides, etc. at Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School, 13800 Pierrefonds Blvd. More information.

Sunday, Aug. 1 at 2 p.m.: Family Sunday at TOHU in St. Michel, featuring circus-related workshops and activities at 2 p.m., followed by outdoor shows for all ages at 3:30 p.m. Free.

Pools and water parks: To beat the heat, you may want to hit a local swimming pool or one of the water parks in and around Montreal.

Berry picking: It’s the season for picking blueberries  at local farms, including Quinn Farm in Île Perrot. You can also find a u-pick blueberry farm on La Route Bleue.

June 9 to Sept. 5: Cirque Akya performs in Longueuil. Shows are usually at 7:30 or 8 p.m. near Collège Champlain, St. Charles St. W., Longueuil. Read show description. Get tickets.

June through September: Outdoor moviesare shown at parks in various districts of Laval. The movies are family-oriented, screened in French, and start at dusk. See the schedule.

June 30 to Aug 24. Théâtre La Roulotte,which stages children’s shows in various Montreal parks every summmer, presents Le Magicien d’Oz (The Wizard of Oz). The show, in French, is loosely based on the classic, involving songs and puppets. Shows are often held on weeknights, with some morning performances also. Check the full schedule to see when it’s coming to a park in your neighbourhood.

July 3 to Aug. 18: St. Léonard’s Ciné Lune,a series of family movies will be shown Wednesday nights, in French, at sundown in St. Léonard’s Delorme Park, 6060 Honfleur St.Check the schedule or call 311 for more information.

July 9 to August 15: Village Festival at theLaval Nature Centre, with a variety of family activities being held each weekend.
